The Pueblo Sheriff's Office has issued an arrest warrant in a murder that happened last summer.

Michael Hopkins of Pueblo West was found dead in his home in June. He had been shot twice.

This afternoon the Sheriff's Office announced a 17-year-old male is their prime suspect. They believe he was burglarizing the house at 1849 Spanish Lady Lane in the early morning hours of June 21 when he was interrupted by Hopkins. A handgun believed to have been stolen from a vehicle earlier is believed to be the murder weapon. The gun has been recovered. The Sheriff's Office said this suspect had information only someone involved in the crime could have.

Investigators interviewed more than 125 people, executed 25 search warrants and analyzed more than 130,000 cell phone contacts. Deputies do not believe Hopkins knew the suspect.

The Sheriff's Office has elected not to release the name of the suspect at this time.
