Two teens were injured in a shooting at a Denver-area middle school Tuesday afternoon, as school was letting out. Both have been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses say the suspect was tackled by teachers, and held until Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrived and took him into custody. Jeffco Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Jacki Kelly says the staff "acted quickly and heroically," preventing further injuries.
There are conflicting reports about the shooter--he has been identified as an adult male, but also as an older boy who wasn't a student at the school.
Deer Creek Middle School is in Jefferson County, just three miles from Columbine High School--site of the nation's deadliest school shooting.
