A 19-year-old from Norway has been declared the winner of the Monopoly World Championship in Las Vegas. That's after he polished off three opponents thanks to a fortunate swap of properties. He won the title Thursday by beating a player from New Zealand.
The game-ending moves came when the teen's 25-year-old opponent landed consecutively on Pacific Avenue and North Carolina Avenue -- and couldn't afford the combined $1,600 rent.
The winner of the world Monopoly title gets $20,580 -- in real money. That's the total amount in the bank of a standard Monopoly game.
This year's final round also included players from Russia and the United States. It lasted about 45 minutes. The tournament began Wednesday at Caesars Palace with players from 41 different countries.
