Early on Saturday morning the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a man down at Chelton Road and S. Academy Blvd.

The responding Patrol Officers and EMS personnel located 18 year-old Jeremy Russeau of Colorado Springs, who had sustained serious injuries to the head. Russeau was transported to Memorial Hospital where was treated for his injuries.

The police's investigation revealed that a vehicle had struck Russeau, and the suspect vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival.

A couple of hours after the accident, the Colorado Springs Police Department Communications Center received a 911 telephone call from the suspect who advised she believed she was involved in a traffic accident, and that she had struck an unknown black object in the roadway. Springs police contacted the suspect, identified as 18 year-old Victoria L. Trujillo, who was then detained.

After an evaluation and a subsequent interview determined that Ms. Trujillo was the driver of the vehicle, alcohol and drugs were ruled out. The case is still under investigation by detectives of the Major Accident Unit.
