COLORADO SPRINGS - Officers were called to Eyrie Drive by a man whose window was broken when someone threw a rock at it. Believing he knew who broke the window, the man took pictures of three teens as they were passing by his home on Friday afternoon.
According to police, a 16-year-old who didn't want his picture taken confronted the man and teen swung a skateboard at the man.
That teen's father said his son was using the skateboard to shield his face because he didn't want his picture taken.
Police said the teens were belligerent when officers arrived to question them. As the officers spoke to the suspect, he allegedly punched and shoved one of the officers and began running into a home. The officers pursued the juvenile into the home.
The teen was yelling for help from his father, who had been sleeping. As the officers entered a bedroom behind the juvenile, the father punched one of the officers in the head. The second officer saw the assault and used his taser on both the juvenile and the father.
The teen has been charged with felony menacing, trespassing and second degree assault on a police officer. The father was not charged.
His parents said the charges stem from a broken window he knew nothing about. The teen's mother said she knows who broke the window, and that they've confessed to the crime.
