The Classical Academy has dominated Colorado track competition the past several years. So it comes as no surprise that this week's "Loaf ‘N Jug High School Athlete of the Week," is a track and field star from TCA. Congratulations to TCA sophomore Alexa Chacon.
The 15-year-old Chacon has already broken the school record in the long jump. She also excels in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and relay. She was a state qualifier in those four events last year and this year she's on track to contend for a couple state titles.
Chacon told News First 5's Jordan Mason she loves being part of the TCA track team. She said, "This is probably one of the best track teams with sportsmanship I've ever been on."
In the classroom Alexa carriers a 3.8 grade point average. She also volunteers with the Lifequest Wounded Warrior Program.
