TCA overpowers Coronado early in 42-7 win

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Classical Academy Titans quickly overpower the Coronado Cougars Friday at Gary Berry Stadium scoring 42 first half points. TCA lead an opening drive down inside the Coronado 20 yard line. But rather than use Division I kicking prospect Daniel Carlson's leg to score, TCA coach Dave Bervig opted to try and convert the fourth down.

Cougar linebackers Evan Strauss and Josh Knotek stuffed Titans rusher Justin Miller at the line forcing the loss on downs. On Coronado's first snap, the Titans defense answered when lineman Thomas Caracena and linebacker Ethan Clark stripped the ball from Cougar's fullback Zeb Foster.

Two plays later, TCA wideout Alex Willis took a quick hand off from quarterback Janzten Ryals on an end around and sprinted to the end zone for the first of six first quarter touchdowns.
