Taylor, others sworn into office in Pueblo County

Seven elected officials were sworn into office this morning in Pueblo County. The event was scheduled to take place on the steps of the county courthouse, but the bone chilling temperatures forced the event indoors.

Those officially sworn into office were Sheriff Kirk Taylor, County Coroner James Kramer, Clerk & Recorder Gilbert "Bo" Ortiz, County Commissioner Jeff Chostner, County Surveyor Randy Reeves, County Assessor Frank Beltran and County Treasurer Del Olivas.

The elected leaders were sworn into office by Chief District Judge Dennis Maes. The ceremony went as planned, except some of the officials made some blunders as they tried to repeat the oath of office. The sheriff even commented about it after taking his oath.

Quotes:

Judge Maes: "I Randy Reeves do solemnly swear by the Everliving God."
Reeves: "I Randy Reeves do hereby solemnly swear to the Everliving God."

Judge Maes: "and the laws made pursuant thereto."
Ortiz: "and the laws pursuant made thereto (chuckled)"

Judge Maes: "and the laws made pursuant thereto."
Beltran: "and the laws pursuant made thereto."

Judge Maes: "That I will faithfully support the Constitution of the United States."
Taylor: "That I will faithfully perform... faithfully support the Constitution of the United States."

"Okay, that's not as easy as it looks," said Taylor.
