Tax deadline just hours away

Today, April 18, is the last day you can file your personal tax return or file an extension with the Internal Revenue Service.

Many locations in Colorado Springs will accept your return until midnight so you can get the April 18 postmark.  It is already too late to drop your return off in Pueblo.  Post offices there closed at 6 p.m.

Here's a list of Colorado Springs post office locations where you can drop off your return in the blue boxes outside of the building until midnight:

3655 E. Fountain Blvd.
2641 E. Uintah St.
201 E. Pikes Peak Ave.
8585 Criterion Dr.
Fort Carson Station (Bldg 1519)
4356 Montebello Dr.
5755 Kittery Dr.
5925 E. Galley Rd.
2940 N. Prospect St.
5001 Centennial Blvd.
1540 S. 8th St.
204 S. 25th St.

If the post office near your home in Colorado Springs has an Automated Postal Center (APC) inside, you can drop off your return there and the postal service will give it the April 18 postmark.

The U.S. Postal Service reminds last-minute filers to make sure to include a return address, the correct I.R.S. address, and the right postage.  Postage for a first-class stamp remains 44 cents, but each extra ounce (up to 3 ounces) is now 20 cents.
