The union representing striking Spirit Airlines pilots says it's accepted an invitation from the National Mediation Board to resume talks today.

The meeting in Florida could signaling a potential thaw in the dispute but the union says it won't end the strike until there's an agreement.

Pilots say they want more competitive pay.

Still, resumed talks would be welcomed by the thousands of customers who are 100 percent grounded along with the airline. Spirit accounts for just 1 percent of America's air traffic.

Spirit says it won't fly until Thursday at the earliest, forcing its roughly 16,000 daily passengers to get where they were going by rental car or an expensive walk-up fare on another airline. Pilots say they want more competitive pay.
