The outsourcing firm Sykes Enterprises Inc. has told Sterling-area officials that it plans to cut almost one-third of its jobs in the area by May 8.
Tampa, Florida based Sykes told Sterling officials it planned to cut about 100 of its roughly 320 employees in Logan County.
Logan County Economic Development Corp. head Richard O'Connell says the announcement came after Sykes lost an unspecified contract handled by customer-service workers in Sterling.
The company did not respond to requests from The Denver Post for comment. The company's Web site says it has about 51,000 employees around the world.
