How about a round of golf to ring in the new year? Tee Times were going fast this morning at Patty Jewett golf course as the unseasonably warm weather brought dozens out to brush up on their game.
Both Patty Jewett and Valley Hi opened on Saturday for limited winter golf. Ryan Miller was surprised to see how many other people had the same idea.
"I called and I though it would be just walk in but they said they only had two tee times life and that was this morning at 9:00," Miller said.
While winter play can take a toll on the dormant grass, Golf Manager Dal Lockwood says he tries to strike a balance between being open and keeping the course up to par.
"It is nice to be open and we certainly enjoy the revenue because folks come out and they buy their permits to start the year, they get some leg stretching in and enjoy some family time."
