A Pueblo West man was hospitalized Saturday after barricading himself inside his home with a gun, forcing a SWAT team to come out and arrest him. The Pueblo County Shriff's Office says they were called to a home on the 600 block of Sweetwater Drive around 1:00 Saturday afternoon on reports of a suicidal and agitated man in possession of weapons and prescription drugs. When deputies arrived at the front door, David Hart, 61, opened the door, pointed the gun at himself, and then shut the door. Deputies and SWAT team members then tried to communicate with Hart for two hours before finally forcing their way into the home. Hart refused to put down the gun and was subdued with a taser and bean bag rounds. He was then taken into custody, but medical assessment on-scene showed Hart was incoherent and had difficulty breathing. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment of a suspected intentional overdose.
