On Wednesday, Pueblo Police were at the Southside Walmart on West Northern because of a theft. While on scene, they saw a suspicious vehicle parked between the two main entrance doors in the fire zone with the passenger door wide open.
Upon checking the car, a suspicious item was found inside that appeared to be a portable radio, some batteries, wires and a backpack resembling some type of explosive device.
Officers set up a perimeter and all shoppers were evacuated through the back doors of the store.
The Bomb Squad was called out to further investigate the item inside the car. They found that there was nothing to be worried about.
When police finally contacted the owner, they learned the car was loaned to a friend.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
