Suspicious package detonated in Elbert

Two explosives are detonated Thursday afternoon in Elbert after a person reported a suspicious package.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's office, the package was found at the intersection of Mount Shasta Drive and Rankin Road and contained two objects consistent with explosives.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit detonated the package.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is handling the investigation. No arrests have been made.
