It's not something Colorado Springs police recommend, but a couple of people jumped in and stopped an attempted robbery on Monday.
Guillermo Lopez-Sanchez is facing charges of third degree assault and assault on a police officer. Officers say they received several 9-1-1 calls about a possible robbery at a 7-11 on East Fountain. When officers arrived, Lopez-Sanchez was on the ground.
Police say he had jumped the counter and began assaulting the clerk. Two customers pulled him off the clerk and held him down until police arrived. He's also accused of kicking a police officer while they were trying to arrest him.
