The power has been restored to all of the roughly 2,000 Colorado Springs Utilities customers who were temporarily left in the dark at around 2:20 a.m. Saturday when a van veered of the road along Delta Drive crashed into a power pole.
Mark Murphy of Colorado Springs Utilities says the outage was quickly restored for all but about 250 homes. Crews were able to replace the downed pole and turn the power back on for all of their customers by 11:00 a.m.
Police suspect the driver of the van had been drinking. After hitting the pole, the van kept rolling and the driver eventually crashed into a carport and three parked cars before coming to a rest.
Neither the driver nor the passenger were injured. Officers have not yet released their identities.
