Suspect stole car, then hit and seriously injured victim

Colorado Springs Police are investigating a motor vehicle theft and disturbance that happened in the 1000 block of Palacio View early Sunday morning.

Springs Police say that the victim started her car and left the vehicle unattended while she returned to the apartment. The victim then heard the vehicle begin to leave, and went outside to confront the suspect.

The suspect, described as a black man, took the car and backed into another vehicle to get away. As the suspect was driving away, the victim was hit by the car causing serious injuries. A witness said they threw a rock through the windshield in an attempt to stop the car.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black Ford Contour with New Mexico license plates and a hole in the windshield from the rock. If anyone observes this vehicle do not attempt to contact the driver and call 444-7000.

The police has not released the victim's name or any information on the condition of the victim.

Colorado Springs police urge citizens not to leave running vehicle's unattended.
