Suspect named in 1993 murder of little girl

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Englewood police have identified a suspect in the 1993 death of a 5-year-old girl whose body was found inside a duffel bag.
Police said Tuesday they identified Nicholas Stofer through DNA evidence. Stofer died in 2001 at the age of 41 years old. Police said their investigation in the 18-year-old case is now over.
Alie Berrelez went missing from her family's apartment complex in Englewood. On May 22, 1993, four days after she disappeared, investigators found her body in Deer Creek Canyon
in Jefferson County.
Police say that his DNA matches DNA recovered from the girl's underwear. They also got a partial DNA match from the waistband of the girl's underwear.
