Suspect escapes by biting security guard

On Friday night around 11:30 p.m., Colorado Springs police officers were dispatched to 2000 block of S. Academy Blvd in regards to a personal robbery.

The Springs police investigation revealed that a security guard observed a suspect urinating in the parking lot of the strip mall. The security guard confronted the suspect, who asked if he was the police.

When the guard said no, the suspect brandished a pistol, and demanded the security guards money. The guard grabbed the pistol, and a struggle over control of the pistol ensued.

The suspect bit the guard in the arm causing a minor wound and the guard gained control of the pistol. The suspect then ran south into the Whitney Young apartment complex.

The guard discovered afterwards that the pistol was a very realistic BB gun that looks like a Walther PPK.

The suspect is described as a black male, thin build, 5'5" tall wearing a grey jacket and black pants.
