Six hours into a standoff on Pueblo's eastside, the suspect told police he needed to use the bathroom--then he'd surrender. It happened on the 1300 block of E. 19th St. early Wednesday morning.
Capt. Tom Rummel with the Pueblo Police Department says officers were trying to make contact with a 17-year old who lives at the house. Capt. Rummel says the teen is a suspect in a shooting the night before on the 1700 block of E. 11th. No one was hurt in that incident.
Capt. Rummel says the teenager was possibly armed with four other people inside the home, including a child. Officers had their weapons drawn and attempted to get the suspect to come out. According to Capt. Rummel, shortly after 9 a.m. the teen popped his head out the door and told officers he had to use the bathroom first, then he'd surrender. A short time later the teen returned and was taken into custody. The other people inside the home were not harmed.
The teen was arrested for two outstanding warrants and faces possible charges in the shooting. His name isn't being released because he's a juvenile
