Suspect arrested in 6 Springs armed robberies

Colorado Springs police have arrested a suspect in six armed robberies of sandwich and pizza shops.

Twenty-one-year-old Desmond Smith was arrested Thursday. He is a suspect in robberies at four Subway sandwich shops, a Domino's Pizza shop and a Papa John's Pizza shop. One robbery was in December and five were in January.

Twenty-one-year-old Clifford Jones-Johnson was arrested last month on suspicion of being an accomplice in three of the robberies. Police say the robberies were committed in "takeover" style, with the thieves ordering employees to the floor at gunpoint.
