Tyrone Braxton has two Super Bowl rings from his days with the Denver Broncos. After this weekend, he also will have a college degree.

The former North Dakota State University defensive back is getting his bachelor's degree in university studies 27 years after leaving school. Braxton says he wrote his mother a letter when he was a college freshman, promising he would get his degree. He says he's finally getting it done, thanks mainly to online courses.

Braxton had planned to attend Saturday's graduation ceremony but can't because he's working at a Denver youth detention facility. He hopes to eventually earn a master's in social work or counseling psychology.
