Sunny, mild today...cold and some snow on the way!

TODAY: Lovely today for all of eastern Colorado. High for Colorado Springs will reach 52. Pueblo will warm to around 56 degrees.

TONIGHT: Starry and cold again with temps dropping into the lower 20's for Colorado Springs and teens again for Pueblo. Temps across the mountains, including in Teller County will be in the 20's.

THURSDAY: More sunshine and milder weather tomorrow. Temps should be about 3-4 degrees warmer compared to today. 55 in Colorado Springs and 57 in Pueblo. Thursday night snow will start across the Continental Divide...good timing if you have plans for some skiing this weekend. Still no advisories yet for snow, but that could change!

FRIDAY: Changes will be blowing in the wind this day. A HIGH WIND WATCH has been posted for all day Friday for all of the New 5 viewing area and the San Luis Valley. Winds in the mountains could be up around 70 mph...lower elevation winds could be up around 45-50 mph, with one or two gusts of 60 mph! A storm system will spread snow from western Colorado to the mountains close to home, including Teller County. By late morning/noon there could be some snow showers around Cripple Creek and Woodland Park. Snow won't be possible until late in the day locally. Our high temps will occur in the morning...before the front arrives. Most of us in the 40's. Chances for snow will be 20% for Colorado Springs, 30-40% or better for northern El Paso and Teller Counties. Snow could actually start around or just after lunch-time across the mountains close to home. Chances for showers for places like Canon City, Walsenburg and Trinidad will be about 20%. Chances in Pueblo and La Junta will only be about 10%.

SATURDAY: Big story will be the cold temps this weekend. We'll still though have a chance early in the day of a few light snow showers! Max temps will only reach 17 degrees in the Springs and 21 in Pueblo. Temps up in Teller County will stay in the teens. Still expecting a VERY cold playoff game between Denver and Baltimore. Temp by the 2:30 kickoff on 18 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Brrrr!

SUNDAY: It now looks like skies will be partly sunny with cold temps. High of only 21 in Colorado Springs and 24 in Pueblo. Temps for Teller County might make it into the teens again to maybe as much as 20 in Woodland Park. For skiers snow will be much less likely compared to Thursday through Saturday.

MONDAY-TUESDAY: Still cold for the first two day of next week. Highs Monday will be in the mid 20's in the Springs and Pueblo. Upper 20's and lower 30's for Monday. Skies both days will be partly cloudy. Partly sunny over the higher elevations.

Falcon school fights to save student's life

FALCON- Aden Knar, a third grade student at Falcon Virtual Academy, is in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. His school, Falcon Virtual Academy, will host a bone marrow donor drive tomorrow to help find a match Aden. Knar, 10, was diagnosed at age 4 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and entered remission in 2008. In November 2013, the Knar family learned that the leukemia had returned, and is now isolated in his bone marrow. In an outreach of support, Falcon Virtual Academy hosted a bone marrow donor drive in January, and will be hosting another tomorrow from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 6113 Constitution Ave., directly west of Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado. "We wanted to reach out to the family again," said Jodi Fletcher, assistant principal. Fletcher explained that more than 250 people participated in the January drive, and she hopes to have similar numbers April 19. The money from a bake sale at the drive, and a portion of the proceeds raised from a spring formal...
