Sunday update on Black Forest fire

At Sunday's press briefing Sheriff Terry Maketa had both good and bad news regarding the Black Forest fire. Fire crews continue to make progress in fighting the fire and are now reporting 65% containment. To date, their latest home assessment shows 483 homes have been totally destroyed, 17 have been partially damaged and 3,607 are unaffected.

Sheriff Maketa also relayed information about crimes that have taken place within the burn zone. That includes four burglaries, one person who was arrested for impersonating an authority figure, and one case of obstruction of a police officer. The sheriff also says they are continuing to treat the area where two people died as a crime scene, and will do so until it's proven otherwise.
