Pueblo City Schools began its free summer food program today. The program has been around since 1981 serving those 18 or younger.

"We have children who visit the site every day," said Jill Kidd, Director of Nutrition Services. "We are concerned because we have a slowdown in the economy, and fresh fruits and vegetables may not be at the top of the list for families to buy."

The program runs through July 15.

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The summer meal program schools are:
• Centennial High School
• Freed, Heaton and Pitts Risley and Roncalli Middle Schools
• Cesar Chavez Academy, Franklin, Heritage, Minnequa and Spann Elementary Schools

Breakfast will also be available June 6 - 30 from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. at Pitts, Risley, Roncalli Heaton, Freed, Heritage and Minnequa.
