Students returned to class Monday at the University of Alabama in Huntsville for the first time since three professors were slain on campus.
Professor Amy Bishop is charged with killing them and wounding three others during a biology department faculty meeting more than a week ago. Police haven't revealed a motive but colleagues say she was unhappy about not getting tenure.
Students say they're excited to get back to classes. Band members from a nearby university played music and offered hugs in a show of support.
President David B. Williams says the main priority is for students to remain current in their studies.
Retired teachers and faculty members from the University of Alabama and the Hudson-Alpha Institute of Biotechnology will help fill in for teachers lost in the shooting.
