Three Pueblo students are asking for donations that would help newborns who are legally surrendered after birth. They're collecting blankets, pacifiers and other unopened baby items to make care packages for each fire station in Pueblo.

Under the Safe Haven law, a mother can give her infant to a fire fighter, police, or hospital worker if the baby is three days old or younger--without facing abuse or neglect charges.

The students: Austin Decker, Josh Cotter and Maggie Kastelic attend The McClelland School in Pueblo. Donations can be dropped off at the school located at 415 E. Abriendo Ave. through Feb. 28. You can also take donations to any Pueblo fire station.
