A Canon City student faces disciplinary action for putting something in a teacher's drink while she was out of the room.

The superintendent of schools in Canon City said other students told the teacher what had happened when she returned. The other students said the 8th grade boy put a packet of flower preservative into the drink on her desk. The preservative is used in water to keep cut flowers fresh. It is not considered dangerous. The teacher was not injured.

The school has begun disciplinary proceedings against the boy, and the matter has been reported to Canon City Police as well.
