A steel beam that was once part of the World Trade Center is now permanently on display at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station as a permanent memorial paying tribute to the victims of the September 11th terror attacks.

The artifact was donated to the Air Force Station by the National Homeland Defense Foundation with the permission of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The memorial was designed by engineering students from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and members of the 721st Civil Engineer Division. Lt. General Michael Basla, vice commander of Air Force Space Command, delivered the key note address.
