The Colorado Springs Street Division started prepping for the storm Thursday morning using data from their weather services. They say they had a crew come in and will stay through midnight. Additional crew members will be sent in when needed.
They say the most important thing is to stay off the roads if you don't need to be on them.
"If you do have to be out, take it easy," says Corey Farkas, Streets Division Manager.
They tell News 5 they will use 33 trucks and more will be sent in if needed.
The Department of Transportation tells News 5 the first thing they do when they have an approaching storm is make sure their equipment is ready. They say they check plow blades, make sure everything is greased, and that lights are functional all to help keep drivers safe on the roads.
