DENVER (AP) - A storm system that's expected to linger through Wednesday is slowing down travelers.
Rocky Mountain National Park reported 15 new inches of snow Monday at Bear Lake, and Loveland ski area reported 14. Denver International Airport reported 5 inches by Monday night and said airlines have canceled 25 flights.
U.S. 40 over Berthoud Pass closed at midday because of the potential for avalanches. U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass also is closed. Parts of Interstate 70 and Interstate 25 were closed following accidents on icy, snowpacked roads.
Blowing snow temporarily closed Interstate 25 from Wellington to Cheyenne, Wyo., Monday morning.
The weather prompted Colorado State University and the University of Colorado to close in the afternoon.
