A man was shot early Tuesday morning in Colorado Springs after he tried to get away from police in a car that was reported stolen.
The getaway car ended up crashing with a police car after trying to elude police for around five miles. The suspect then got out of the car and ran. "At the time of the foot pursuit shots were fired by the police," said Colorado Springs Police Spokesman, Larry Herbert.
The suspect was hit. He was rushed to the hospital. At last report he was in critical condition.
With any shooting case it requires a more detailed investigation. It becomes even more complex when it involves an officer firing shots. "Doing a thorough scene investigation which includes photographs and measurements and analysis of everything that took place and the evidence that is located here at the scene," said Herbert. Internal police investigators as well as investigators from the district attorney's office review the evidence to determine if the shots were justified.
