Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO, effective immediately

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The mind behind the innovative products that have transformed Apple into one of the world's most powerful companies is calling it quits.

Steve Jobs says he can no longer handle the job and has resigned as the company's CEO. The resignation appears to be connected with an unspecified medical condition for which he took an indefinite leave from his post in January.
