Stephanie Ortmann joined the News 5 weather team in April of 2013 and is excited to be living and working in Colorado again.
You may recognize Stephanie. She previously worked at KKTV in Colorado Springs several years ago and returns to Southern Colorado after working in Portland, OR, Lincoln, NE, and Indianapolis, IN. Stephanie started her career in Eugene, OR.
Stephanie was born in Florida and grew up in Knoxville, TN. After graduating high school, she went back to Florida for college. She is a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in meteorology and minors in mathematics and communications.
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys traveling to international and domestic destinations. She's been to Australia, Hawaii, Mexico, Austria, Italy, and hopes to travel to South America and Africa in the near future. She particularly likes flying to Germany to visit her relatives and Tennessee to see her family. She also loves good food, spending time with her friends, and watching football and soccer. She's always up for trying anything new!
In the summer of 2011, Stephanie cut off 9 inches of her hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths - an organization that makes free real-hair wigs from donated hair and distributes them through select American Cancer Society wig banks to women with cancer. She hopes to donate again in the future.
A few fun facts about Stephanie: She's 100% German. She won the National Scream Contest held in York, NE, two years in a row (2010/2011), and between January and September 2009, she traveled approximately 110,000 miles. Her dream job: to be the host of a show on the Travel Channel.
