Staying in school can have an unexpected side effect: improved asthma symptoms.
A study published in the journal respiratory research finds adults with fewer than 12 years education were 55 percent more likely to report an asthma-related emergency room visit in the last year. They say lower education levels are often linked to poor economic status, which could increase exposure to certain allergens.
Poorer adults are also more likely to smoke and be overweight, both factors increase the risk for asthma attacks.
