Staying hot & mostly dry

A large area of high pressure over the Great Plains has expanded to the west and is the main feature affecting our area's weather. Since the high pressure is centered east of us and we are on its western side, the large scale wind is from the south. The wind from the south is carrying humidity and heat into Colorado, but above the ground the air is drying. While the higher humidity near the ground will lend to a stray showers, particularly over the mountains, the dry air above the ground will limit the amount of rain over Colorado.

Along with the overall dry conditions, expect unseasonably warm temperatures throughout the end of the week. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80's around Colorado Springs with 90's along and south of the Arkansas River, including Pueblo and Cañon City, and 70's for Monument Hill and Teller County.
