Staying dry other than a mountain shower

It's Friday, and our weather has been stuck in a pattern all week. That pattern hasn't changed, and our Friday weather will be much like the past few days. That means we will be dry today, aside from a stray mountain shower or two, and we will be hot with high temperatures within 2-3 degrees of records.

Those high temperatures will be near 90 around Colorado Springs and the south side of the Palmer Divide with mid-to-upper 80's up higher toward Monument Hill. The Upper Arkansas Valley, including Pueblo and Cañon City, and most areas south of the Arkansas River will warm well into the 90's today. The Lower Arkansas Valley near La Junta and Lamar will warm to near 100.

The high pressure that has kept us hot and dry is just beginning to make a move to the east as it is nudged a bit by the low pressure intensifying along the Pacific Northwest Coast. With the eastward movement, the heat will begin to relax and the moisture will begin to return. We will notice that tomorrow and even more on Sunday. That low pressure system will move into our area next week and bring more rain and cooler air into Southeastern Colorado.
