State Patrol investigates two separate fatal accidents

The first accident happened around 12 p.m., 11 miles west of Walsenburg. According to State Patrol, the driver of a 2006 Volvo, 56-year-old Raymond Campbell of Aurora Colorado, was traveling eastbound on Colorado 160 at a high rate of speed, lost control and rolled over four times. Raymond died at the scene of the accident. Authorities believe alcohol, drugs and speed may have been contributing factor in this accident. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The second accident happened around 12:55 p.m. approximately 15 miles north of Trinidad. According to State Patrol, the driver of a 2007 Toyota Sequoia with a trailer was traveling southbound on Colorado 25, when a tire failed and caused the driver to lose control. The Toyota along with the trailer rolled over and landed on the right side.
Six occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. Authorities say 48-year-old Erik Pontseir of Prescott Arizona died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, 48-year-old Priscilla Pontseir was not injured but four other occupants inside of the vehicle were transported to San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad in unknown condition. The accident remains under investigation.
