El Paso County is successfully meeting the challenges of the recession, while providing services and projects that enhance the lives of residents.
That was the message Wednesday of El Paso County Commissioner Jim Bensburg, who gave the annual State of the County presentation at the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs.
Just a year ago the county was announcing furlough days and cutting programs. Now, through partnerships and innovative approaches, several road projects have been completed, conservation efforts expanded and new programs implemented.
Bensburg credits "downright tough, conservative thinking" for allowing El Paso County to do more with less.
