The opening weekend of the 10th Rocky Mountain State Games in Colorado Springs continues through Sunday with some 1,200 athletes competing in five sports.
The Games will embrace 34 sports this year, with the majority of the competition taking place over two long weekends. The following weekend (July 29-31), will include the Opening Ceremony at the Colorado Springs World Arena on Friday night, July 29, and the bulk of the sports program. Swimming took place last week at the Olympic Training Center and Figure Skating won't take the ice until September 13 at the Sertich Ice Arena.
Competition will take place in the Pikes Peak Region at venues including the U.S. Olympic Training Center, United States Air Force Academy, Memorial Park, Fort Carson, Colorado College and other venues in Colorado Springs.
Event results are posted at the end of each competition day.
