December is off to a snowy, blustery start as a winter snow storm continues to ice over roads, cause accidents and even cancel school. Lewis Palmer School District 38 in Mounment had been on a 2 hour delayed start this morning, when at around 9:45 a.m. administrators decided to cancel class at all elementary schools, including preschool and kindergarten.

The Colorado Springs Police Department activiated their accident alert status so that drivers have more time to report minor fender benders.

The heaviest snow is falling in northern El Paso County hitting Monument, Tri-Lakes and Black Forest with anywhere from 3 to 6 inches.

The flurries started falling in Colorado Springs as early as 5:00 but didn't begin to affect visibility until almost 7:00 a.m. The city's snow plow drivers have been sanding primary routes since 5:45 a.m.
