Because of the extremely high fire danger and the demand of fire fighting resources from the Waldo Canyon Fire, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has elevated fire restrictions to Stage II.

Here's what that means:

NO burning campfires,
Warming fires,
Charcoal grills
Outdoor woodburning stoves

NO explosives, outdoor welding, or use of acetylene or other torch with open flames other than in an area cleared of all flammable materials

NO sale or use of fireworks of all kinds

NO outdoor smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building

Fires contained within liquid-fueled or gas fueled stoves are permitted.

Violations of these restrictions may result in fines up to $1,000.
