A Colorado Springs woman says she's found "gold" for our soldiers overseas.
MeLissa Rocco has been selling chocolate for about a year now. She was having a show for some of her products in December when a soldier at the show told her that the chocolate covered espresso beans she was selling were like "gold" to the soldiers. Rocco was told they were a good energy booster and were easier to carry around than coffee.
Now she's working to get them overseas. For anyone that buys a box for the troops, she's taking her profit and instead using it for shipping costs. She's calling the program "Beans for the Brave."
"If I can help them stay awake, when they're needing to be and they're really, really tired, just by popping a few espresso beans -- and make a little smile for them too because who doesn't like chocolate? -- it's something that makes me smile," Rocco says.
Rocco says you can't ship chocolate over the summer because of the heat -- unless you want it to melt. She's working to get out a large batch by the end of the week. She's hoping for 100 boxes, then after the summer trying to double that when November rolls around. Each box cost $20.
If you want more information you can call Rocco (probably the fastest way if you want to make this shipment) at (719) 439-3522. You can also visit her website by clicking here.
