Space shuttle Endeavour has the green light for launch tomorrow and an improving weather forecast to go with it.
The last scheduled night launch comes as workers face uncertainty after a space policy shake-up by the Obama administration.
On Monday, President Barack Obama ditched the back-to-the-moon program of the previous administration of President George W. Bush.
Instead, Obama is proposing more research that could have astronauts heading to the asteroids or Mars, sooner and cheaper than under the old plan. It could mean even more layoffs for the shuttle work force.
Endeavour and its crew of six will deliver a new room to the international space station as well as a one-of-a-kind observation deck built in Italy at the behest of the European Space Agency.
More than 100 Europeans connected to the project are present for the launch and say they're excited.
