A high speed chase that lasted more than two hours and went through three Southern Colorado counties is over.
The Colorado State Patrol (CSP)says the pursuit started a mile south of Walsenburg on I-25 when a trooper tried to pull over a speeding car around 7:40 am. The driver of the car took off going northbound on the interstate.
The pursuit led up Highway 10 into Otero County and then moved into Las Animas County where it ended in a field off Highway 350 south of La Junta.
The CSP says troopers on the ground lost the vehicle, but air support located the car, a white Toyota, in a field under a tree. Law enforcement officers moved in and ended up having to deploy a tazer on the suspect before arresting him around 10:20am.
There was a report the driver had a gun, but that has not yet been located. The Toyota was taken from relatives of the driver. No one was hurt in the chase. The suspect's name has not been released.
