Southern and Midwestern states uneasy as new year rings in

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana have been on edge overnight, amid concern that more tornadoes could be on the way. At least six people died and dozens were hurt as tornadoes struck the South and Midwest yesterday and early today. They were fueled by some unusually warm air.
