Soldier stops would-be robbers

Colorado Springs Police say a soldier with a concealed weapons permit stopped two men that attempted to rob him and his wife.

The soldier and his wife had just transferred from Fort Hood and were taking a walk last night when two masked men approached them at Fairmont Place and Fairmont Dr in the southeast part of the city.

The would-be robbers told the couple to lie down on the ground. That is when the soldier pulled out his handgun, causing the suspects to run away.

One of the suspects then turned around and pointed what appeared to be a gun at the couple and that is when the soldier fired one shot in the masked man's direction, the suspect then ran off.

The victims said the suspects were dressed in all black and had what they believed was Hispanic accents.
