Sgt. Nathan Jones has been gone for a year... He's a broadcast journalist in the US Army. Saturday a full stable of family and friends were there to greet him as he returned home from Iraq.
"I was very surprised! It was like an out of body experience." he says, "I expected it to be much smaller so it took me by surprise."
None were happier to see Nathan than his mom Michelle. "It's awesome! It's great! There's no better feeling ever!" she says, "I felt like my heart was coming out of my chest. I can't even explain it. It's almost like when he was first born." Their relationship is a very special one. "I'm a single mom so he's always been my best friend." she explains, "I missed him tremendously."
Now she can rest easy with her son back home. As for Nathan, he's looking forward to the simple things in life. "Little Caesar's $5 pizzas, the Hot N Spicy chicken sandwich at McDonald's. Food really! I'm ready to start eating junk food again!" he says with a laugh. It's just nice for the Sarge to come back home. "I miss the states a great deal but the people there in Colorado is what makes it home." he says, "I'm really glad to be surrounded by those people again."
