"Soldier Fire" has burned 40 acres near Fort Collins

The fire burning outside Lory State Park northwest of Fort Collins has burned 40-acres according to the Larimer County Sheriffs Office.

The "Soldier Fire" is burning through vegetation in the Soldier Canyon area west of Horsetooth Reservoir. Structures are reportedly threatened.

Additional engines and firefighters are being called to the area. The sheriff's office says about 50 people are under mandatory evacuations.

An evacuation center has been set up for them at Cache la Poudre Elementary School gynmasium in LaPorte.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
